I don't want to fall into the trap of arguing with dullards, but the common complaint - "ooh, the World Cup takes over television schedules for weeks, it's rammed down your throat, you can't escape," deserves no sympathy. It's only a month, once every four years: watch a different channel; stick a DVD on; go out for a meal; read a book. I've watched... maybe two hours of it in total - it hasn't got in my way at all. What are you missing anyway? Programmes about houses, I guess. I wouldn't worry.
