Historic

From The Times:

And ramming that message home yesterday, Mr Iwata showed a clip, which, for veteran gamers, represents the ultimate boast: Sega’s cherished mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog, will appear alongside his arch rival, Mario, in a series of games scheduled for release early next year.

...

Fifteen years later, Sonic and Mario will appear arm-in-arm for an athletics-based game set around the Beijing Olympics

Presumably a remake of this game.

Outsourcing: October 2007

Recommended to me by Marty:

Okkervil River - The Stage Names
The National - Boxer

Recommended to me by Pato:

Sly & The Family Stone - Fresh
The Go! Team - Proof Of Youth

I'll be diluting this restless modernity with some Steve Earle - Guitar Town. I had a long list of other things there, but it's pretty tedious and self-serving to stick them up. Besides, am I really going to need more than Steve Earle these 31 days?

I guess I might write up at some point how I've been getting on with previous recommendations. Thing is, it's really difficult not to sound awful writing blog posts about music.

That I've written about three posts in two months probably tells you all you need to know about my feelings about blogging at the moment. I still read them, I've got no downer on them, it's just a lack of confidence in my blog voice.

Anyway, some books for you, for your records:

J. Crumley - The Last Good Kiss
Hemmingway - The Sun Also Rises

You know my sister, right? Well, her book is out today. Hooray! Buy it!

Also, All the Rage, her lifestyle magazine for nerds: it's good. You should read it - not because I've been in the last couple, but because you'd enjoy the other stuff.
